Current Research

Stalagmite paleoclimatology: We analyze high-resolution records of stable isotopes and trace elements of the Japanese stalagmites, in order to decode the humidity and temperature change during latest Pleistocene and Holocene.rnrnAnimal evolution in latest Neoproterozoic: We study sedimentary sections in south China and central Brazil, and try to reconstruct paleoceanographic and paleontological history in this geological period of significant changes.rnrnCalcareous hydrothermal deposits (travertines): We found that laminated structures in travertines were daily reflected from metabolic cycles of phototrophic bacteria. Lamination in the travertines can be a modern analog for considering the origin of stromatolites.
